Afghan Police Seize Twenty kg of Opium, Arrest Two in Takhar Province

(MENAFN) According to reports, Afghan police carried out a crackdown on illegal drug trafficking in northern Afghanistan’s Takhar province on Sunday, resulting in the arrest of two suspected smugglers and the seizure of narcotics.

The provincial police office confirmed in a statement that officers discovered around 20 kilograms of opium poppy during the operation.

Authorities said the suspects were allegedly attempting to transport the drugs from Takhar to an unspecified destination before they were identified and detained by security forces.

Officials continue to conduct anti-narcotics operations across the region as part of broader efforts to curb illegal drug trafficking networks.
