Fire erupts at fuel depot in Afghanistan, injuring three

(MENAFN) A significant fire erupted at a petrol depot located within Kandahar city, in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar, on Sunday night. The incident resulted in injuries to three individuals, including a firefighter, as they worked to contain the spreading flames, according to statements released by provincial police representative Mullah Assadullah Jamshid on Monday.

The location of the accident was confirmed to be in Police District 5 of Kandahar. The representative detailed that the injuries sustained by the three individuals occurred directly as a result of their efforts to extinguish the rapidly spreading fire.

Beyond the human cost, the fire inflicted substantial property damage. Preliminary assessments place the financial losses at approximately 15 million afghani, equivalent to roughly 212,766 U.S. dollars. Authorities confirmed that the fire was eventually brought under control, preventing further escalation of the damage.
